I have helped many people learn the things I've learned on webtv and computer, proving easily that if I can learn it....anyone can. LOL.
I decided to make a small collection of tutes for my growing number of friends that are as adventurous and brave as I've become.
So, you're ready for a host to start storing gifs, jpgs, music etc. Maybe you're even ready to create some "html" for pages to show off your treasures or even make sigs.
I use 250free. Yes, admittedly we all had some trouble there and lost some things last spring, but hopefully this won't happen again. The owner there realy does care about us and our accounts. I've been around to different places since the Spring, even a highly recommended high priced place, but have learned they all have their bugs and I know if I have trouble at 250free, someone will get back to me.
This is such an easy part...
Simply go to 250free and sign up. Their free accounts are excellent for starters. They give you plenty of space and bandwidth to begin with. They do carry banners on the "free account" pages, but they're alot less intrusive than some others. You can always upgrade later if you want at really reasonable rates or even just add a one time bandwidth boost.
Once you open your account and are taken to "File Manager", create a few basic folders. You'll see a place that says "Create a folder". (It'll be on the right side)Type in the name of the folder you want, then click "create".
I would suggest you begin with a few basics such as "Gifs", "Backgrounds", "Midis", etc...however specific you want to go. In each folder, you have a chance to create a folder in each of those also....for example, in my gifs folder, I have several sub-folders like "Angels", "Flowers", "Holidays" and of course, "Unicorns". Heck, you can create a sub folder in your sub folders if you want. LOL. But I'll not get into that now.
So now, here you sit. An account, some folders, but all sitting empty with nothing to put in them. How in the heck do you get your goodies into the folders?
Stay tuned. I'll be back real soon with tutes for saving pages on computer and transloading. :-)
Hey, not bad for a first tutorial...huh?
