CCP! Sounds almost bad doesn't it? Probably one of the most important, yet easiest things you can learn on here. Important because of html, transloading, and yahoo groups that can't show attatchments. Easy...well...watch this.
For this, we'll use the example of getting a URL (webpage adress) for the sake of mailing it to a friend. :-)
Go to a webpage. Any webpage.
Click your "goto" button. It's either at the top of your keyboard or in your options.
Click "show last".
You'll see something that starts "http:// ". That's the URL.
With one finger, press and hold down on the "cmd" button. While holding this down, tap the "A" key with another finger. The URL should become highlighted.
You have copied.
Press and hold down the "cmd" button again. While holding the button, tap the "C" key. If your volume is up...you should hear a "click".
You have now cut.
Easy huh? You're now....what I call...carrying a code. :-) Oh, you can let go of the "cmd" key now.
Go as if you're going to write a letter. With your cursor flashing in the body (part where you write your letter).
Find that handy "cmd" key again, and you guessed it, hold it down.
While holding it down, tap the "V" key. The URL you were carrying should appear in the area your cursor was flashing.
My friend, you've now CCP'd.
To CCP text in a letter or page, figure out what word you want to start with.
Click the "find" button on your keyboard or options menu.
Type in the word you've chosen as the first word you want to CCP.
The word will appear highlighted.
Hold down your shift key, and click the arrows on your keyboard until the entire text you want is highlighted.
That was the copying part.
Remember the "cmd" + C thing? Do it.
And "cmd" + "V" will paste your text wherever you have a place to paste it.
Face it, it's a bit easier for computers.
Pick a webpage...any webpage.
At the top, in the address bar, will be the URL. (Begins http://)
Move your little arrow over the URL and right click.
The URL will highlight and a little drop down will appear.(copy)
Click the word "copy" from the little drop down. (cut)
Go as if you're going to write a letter. Place your arrow where you want to paste your URL, and left click. Your cursor should be flashing right where you want the URL dropped off.
Right click and from the little drop down that appears, click the word "paste".
Waa-la!
Another way to get the URL for a page, is when you're on the webpage, click the word "file" in your upper left hand corner of the screen.
Towards the bottom of that drop down, will be the word "properties". Left click that.
You'll see a bnch of information. Also,on that page, you will see the word "Address" or "URL". (Mine says both. LOL)
Place the arrow right over the very begining of the URL. (http etc.)
Left click, and while holding down that left click, slide the cursor across until the whole URL is highlighted.
Place the arrow over the highlighted URL and right click.
Select "copy".
And the pasting remains the same. :-)
To CCP text, find the word you wish to begin....place the arrow right over the begining of that word.
Left click and while holding that left click down, slide your cursor until the whole text you want to copy is highlighted.
(Bet you know the next part). Placing your arrow over highlighted text, right click and select the word "copy".
Now, go paste it where you're wanting it to be. :-)
Wasn't this easy?
It wasn't? To tell you the truth, CCP confused me for the longest time, but once I figured it all out...I could probably do it in my sleep.
Are we having fun yet? LOL
Now that you can CCP, would you like to learn to transload?
Gotta do something with your new found skills. (Besides soothe the ruffled feathers of yahoo group owners with a URL instead of an attatchment)
